more commentary on the UK elections

if anyone fancies recording these properly |I’ll give you the chords..

I’m alright Jack

I was trying to understand why so many people in England voted against their own best interests in the recent election and this is what I came up with.. it’s very basic, maybe I’ll record it properly later

This is a song about a drunk mermaid.

I had such a lovely evening .. my son and daughter came out to the cabin and helped me write a song.. these are Harry’s lyrics. Based on the 1950 film Harvey.

The website is up and running! Click the little robot to take you there 🙂

This week I have mostly been drawing paisley (which you can see later) and writing little songs. Also I have been making the drum tracks myself by hitting random objects with biros.

This one is about the interesting, cockney-rhyming-slang phrases people use for bingo, which amuse me

and this one is about men showing you their hairy chests, uninvited.

putini ballet

This is just me and Rache messing around in the cabin..  I’m not sure it’s in the best taste to write a song about civil war (in which I am not taking sides!) and the mysteriously brutal elimination of political opponents, but I suppose I’m just taking advantage of the freedom to do so. Long may it last! And stay away from the sushi.

Fats waller

I can across a piece of sheet music for “ain’t misbehaving” at a car boot sale ages ago, and it was years until I could go onto youtube and watch the video. Is it blues? |Is it jazz? I don’t care, it’s awesome.

I just wanted to share it with everyone.

Fats Waller was a dude 🙂

Like a ghost

I think my singing lets it down a bit but you get the general idea. If anyone fancies singing it for me I can send the track without the vox…                                                    Guitar, piano.

I went to see an old lady
alone in a big house.
Husband died two months ago, she
Can’t even use the telephone.
Everything had always been done for her,
you see.
She was hostile. “I don’t need you.
I don’t need anyone. Except him.”
And then she cried.

“I was beautiful once,”
she said – and she still is.
Transparently, as if
already a ghost.

“What would we talk about anyway?”
she said. And I thought
we could talk about loss
or gardening
or old films
but she was right
I may know of grief
but I don’t know what it is
to be helpless,
frail, and old.

“You have red hair,”
she said. “I had red hair.
“And I didn’t have to dye it,

And i made my excuses and left
Well, you can’t force people
If they say they want to be
in a big house.

Funky robot

So I had some time off work and I should have been doing a lot of things, but what I have been mainly doing is turning my shed into a recording studio.

This robot has a brain and it’s classified insane
It is plugged into the internet downloading everything
It can see your location on google maps
its researching sex through your dating apps
its coordinating thousands of unmanned drones
it can get into your xbox and your car and your phone
we’re screwed
and theres nothing else to do
except do the funky robot

This robot couldn’t hope to pass the turing test
And yet it’s strangely fascinated watching peopel get undressed
It has fingers in the cloud and in the cctv
And it datamines facebook for your personality
When you go shopping it knows what you buy
it’s got a million billion diodes clicking wondeing why

Do the funky robot.
